What is a “Basic Sewing Kit”?

Many of our class and mastery supply lists request that you bring a “Basic Sewing Kit”.

Here’s what you should have in yours.

  • Good quality fabric scissors
  • Small scissors or thread snips
  • 6” seam gauge or ruler
  • Seam ripper
  • Straight pins
  • Fabric marker
  • Needles for your machine
  • Pen and paper for notes
  • Anything you commonly use for a fun day of sewing

Applique Florals

If you would like to learn how to appliqué this is a great small project! There is no tracing involved, so it’s faster than the usual appliqué process. Gather up small pieces of fabric from your stash and make a wall hanging for your home or to give as a gift.

Beginning Machine Applique

This class is for the beginner who would like to appliqué and doesn’t want to do it by hand. You will learn several techniques for machine appliqué.

Celtic Charm

Even if you are not Irish, you have probably seen and admired traditional Celtic knots. Most Celtic designs are done in appliqué because of the intricate motifs, but this pattern is all piecework, and better yet, there are only two basic blocks to learn!

Free Motion Feathers

This is a great class to help you with your free motion machine quilting. Feathers are so beautiful on a quilt and with Judy's guidance, you can learn to make feathers for your quilts. This class is a great intro to quilting feathers, but also a great opportunity to practice and improve your quilting.

Table Top Quilts: Pineapple

In this workshop you will discover how to create a table top decorator quilt which fits over an 8 ½” x 11” frame. The quilt can be changed quickly and easily with the seasons or makes a great gift. We will also discuss some tips and techniques on basic quilting, cutting and pressing, machine appliqué and quilting. We will even have some ideas for more table top quilts. At the end of the day, your project will be nearly complete and ready to frame.

Three Ts (Tips, Tricks, & Techniques)

If you are a quilter, this class is one you cannot miss. In each session we will discuss ways to make your quilting creations the best they can be. Learn new tips for sewing curves, new tricks for pinning triangles, and new techniques for turned edge machine appliqué. Begin with the basics and learn your way through the block. Blocks you make can be sewn into a quilt or put in a notebook for future reference.
